CHILDRENS

Aliens Love Underpants!
I read this to Arran who's five along with 'Dinosaurs love underpants' and it certainly made us all laugh.

Bedknobs And Broomsticks [DVD] [1971]
I watched Bedknobs And Broomsticks [DVD] [1971] with Arran and Imogen and we all enjoyed it although the best bit still has to be 'The beautiful briny sea'.

Little Miss Sunshine (Little Miss Classic Library)
Little Miss Sunshine goes to Miseryland where smiling, laughing, chuckling and giggling are forbidden ?. Her strategy was simple – just by changing the name of the town to Laughterland life changed for everyone there. Too simple?? In NLP we change people’s internal representations a lot to help get them into a more resourceful state. Why? Because our internal representation for anything will have an impact on how we feel. Just think about someone who love and I’m sure the feeling will be different to thinking about someone you had an argument with last week! The people aren’t here with you. You’re only thinking about them and your state changed. This also happens with words. So just notice what words you use to describe situations and if the state they generate is unhelpful and unresourceful change the word and notice what you notice .e.g. ‘stuck’ can become ‘off track’, ‘depressed’ can become ‘lost’ etc.

Mr. Grumpy (Mr. Men Classic Library)
Mr Happy uses an NLP technique with Mr Grumpy to associate being grumpy to something he didn’t like – being tickled!! For a whole day every time he was grumpy with other people Mr Tickle tickled him. So on the 10th occasion when he was just about to be grumpy again his own internal desire not to be tickled kicked in and he stopped the grumpy behaviour. This technique is often used to help people stop smoking and eating certain foods. I remember seeing Paul Mckenna on TV linking smoking to eating the ash and the person soon stopped smoking! How many of you have never drank again what as a teenager made you very ill when you over indulged for the first time? It’s the same thing.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea
Imogen's favourite is The Tiger Who Came to Tea Beware if a Tiger ever comes for tea because he'll eat everything - everything on the table, in the cupboards, the fridge, all the beer (!) and even the water from the tap. So best buy a tin of tiger food just in case.

This Morning I Met a Whale
It's based on the true story of the bottle nosed whale who died in the Thames in Jan 2006 shortly after making a trip as far as Battersea Bridge. It's centred around an imaginary discussion between a child and the whale. A whale who says "...this killing has to stop. You are killing the sea we live in! You are killing the air we breathe. You are killing the world. Tell a child. Only the children will put it right". The pictures are beautifull.

Tiddler
I read Arran his favourite book Tiddler Tiddler is a fish who tells stories about why he is always late for school. Except one day when the story of adventure and near death is real ... but no one believes him. I also loved the other theme which was about him being lost and by following his tall stories that others were now telling he was able to find his way home.
